Recommend Firewire 800 cable for Mac Mini?

I feel like such a numpty, but I'm not sure which Firewire cable to get for my new Mini. I know all about Firewire 400, but this is a whole new thing!

I want to connect my new Mac Mini with a new Firewire 800 drive I just bought. The drive does not come with a firewire 800 cable, and the cables I see on Amazon and eBay are for 9-pin to 6-pin, or M-M, and it looks like I need M-F, 9-pin to 9-pin, but I really am not sure. Can someone recommend me a cable? From the Apple Store, Amazon, anywhere? Please forgive me my stupidity and I am grateful for any advice. Thanks.

they have all the cables. you want a 9 pin to 9 pin.

but I'd also pick up a 800 to 400 adapter cable as well, never know when you might need it, maybe to help a friend 🙂

I have an adapter for 400, thankfully, but had assumed my 800 firewire drive would provide me with a cable! Oh foolish me!

it should have. all of the drive cases I've ordered from OWC has always came with the cable.

I would have thought so too, but no. It is a Simpletech external with four connection options (USB, Firewire 400, Firewire 800, e-SATA) and the cables it provided were Firewire 400 and USB, but nothing else. Well, my cable is on its way to me now!
