problems with Feedback Protection

I've been using GarageBand '09 for several months with no problems.

Very recently the Feedback Protection window started popping up all the time,
obscuring the main GB window. I would like to disable Feedback Protection completely. Is there a way to do this?

I do not want to adjust my input volume(s) to satisfy Feedback Protection.
As a test, I've tried reducing input volume but Feedback Protection keeps popping up. I consider it a pest and a annoyance, especially when it won't allow me to record freely and without hassle.

Have also tried deleting GB preferences, but no luck in defeating Feedback Protection. Is there a way to remove a plug-in or something?

Any help would be appreciated - thanks! - KB

I've tried every possible combination that Feedback Protection presents me
(monitor on, monitor off, no feedback protection, etc)

I only monitor through good headphones.

I keep my input volumes at a decent level

Still, Feedback Protection pops up all the time and for no reason.

I don't want to re-install GarageBand '09 (I'm in the middle of several projects)
but I may have to revert to my previous version of GarageBand unless I can figure this out
