Facebook not working after iPhone update 3.1

After successfully updating my iPhone 3GS to 3.1, Facebook does not work. I click on the icon and a page flashes open only to return to the iPhone icons screen. I've tried deleting the Facebook app from my phone and iTunes, restarting the phone, then reinstalling the app. Problems continue.

Any ideas?

I am actually having the same issue with every app on my phone except the default iPhone apps which work just fine I have rebooted the phone, used iTunes to remove a couple apps sync then add them and this morning delete Facebook from my phone and redownloaded it via wifi to my phone and same thing.

all 3rd party (including apple apps like remote) apps just open then close right to the main screen

when i get home I will try a restore via iTunes then reload one or two apps to see if maybe it was just a bad 3.1 install if any one else has a suggestion that doesnt require me to be on my computer (im at work) please let me know

thanks

tried that doesnt work in this situation

for us its the app loads its first screen then crashes back to the main screen its freezing the phone.

talked toa co-worker he has a friend this happened too

he fixed it by restoring the firmware via iTunes then reload all your apps (do not restore from backup) to help take screenshots of your home screen either with your phone prior to restoring it or using iTunes under applications

this will help load it the way you like faster than just loading apps then moving them on your home screen

will try when i get home to see if this works and will post my results

(I posted this advice in another thread, but it applies to both - not the best solution, but it fixed the problem.)

I found a fix, thanks to Apple phone support. Seems a software timing issue is causing the problem with some phones.
1) Back up your iPhone (control-click on iPhone name in iTunes and choose backup).
2) Restore your phone as a new iPhone. (NOTE: you will of lose all settings)
3) Rename your iPhone.

Now your mileage may vary on the following. I tried to restore the backup settings but the app issue returned. The Apple tech said it should have worked. Not a big deal, I repeated steps 1-3 and just re-entered my settings from scratch. I just synced my address book from my MMP back to the iPhone. All apps work and in a way, it feels like a fresh phone.

Let me know how this works for you. Good luck.
