Sep 10, 2009 4:12 PM in response to Arimathéiaby Arimathéia,I got the message: Alert: Your computer does not need this update. -
Sep 10, 2009 5:28 PM in response to Arimathéiaby Grinch,Same thing here.
Whats up with Apple providing an update that your system will not let you install it?
Has to be a glitch of some sort. -
Sep 10, 2009 6:05 PM in response to Grinchby Mark Allen,This is what the installer log says after failing:
Sep 10 20:02:33 Installer[264]: Package Authoring Warning: Package reference does not include required hash for package id auto. -

Exactly the same thing here!!!!

Sep 10, 2009 7:02 PM in response to alexandrectorresby Arimathéia,It sounds that Apple didn't include the necessary digital signing to allow a firmware upgrade to take place. -
Sep 10, 2009 11:13 PM in response to Arimathéiaby cyvi937,I have the HD2400 XT and get the same thing: "You do not need this update." -
Sep 10, 2009 11:58 PM in response to Arimathéiaby rkaufmann87,Did any of you check to see if your system needed the update? My iMac has the ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro but I already have Firmware version:
EFI Driver Version: 01.00.219
To me the update you are referring is 1.0.2, seems older than what I already have. Also I ran Software update and my machine did not see that this update was necessary so in this instance I'm leaving well enough alone.
Regards,
Roger -
Sep 11, 2009 12:37 AM in response to rkaufmann87by cyvi937,I think the EFI driver is different to the graphics card firmware. + Apple doesn't always distribute firmware updates using Software Update - the old firmware vs software debate. -
Sep 11, 2009 12:50 AM in response to Arimathéiaby TomHicks,I have exactly the same problem, with an iMac 8,1.
Though my System Profiler seems to show something different to everyone else's I've seen, with regards to the firmware number:
Chipset Model: ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro
Type: GPU
Bus: PCIe
PCIe Lane Width: x16
VRAM (Total): 256 MB
Vendor: ATI (0x1002)
Device ID: 0x9583
Revision ID: 0x0000
ROM Revision: 113-B2250L-259
EFI Driver Version: 01.00.259
All other coy-and-pastes from Sys Prof have shown 01.00.219, not .259.
Any ideas? -

Sep 11, 2009 6:51 AM in response to Arimathéiaby FelipeRaul,No luck in installing it here either, it doesn't even show up in the Software Update list. -
Sep 11, 2009 7:24 AM in response to Arimathéiaby musicvan,Same here, Alert: Your computer does not need this update.
Chipset Model: ATI Radeon HD 2400
EFI Driver Version: 01.00.259
OS X 10.6.1
Strange as I meet the requirements, is this the same as the EFI driver 1.0.259 and therefore older? Would ignore usually and assume that I am up to date but still unsure if I am! -
Sep 11, 2009 8:20 AM in response to musicvanby otacon,I have an older firmware - but it won't install here as well. Running 10.6.1, too.
ROM-Version: 113-B2250F-212
EFI-Treiberversion: 01.00.212
Shouldn't it at least update to the version you have (.259)? Something's wrong here, isn't it?
Anyone knows if you can find out the most recent firmware version number somewhere (ATI website, maybe)?
(Note: I have a ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro, but I have met people in this forum who have a .259-version firmware with this card, too.) -
Sep 11, 2009 9:28 AM in response to otaconby JoMel,I've got an *iMac 24" 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (Early 2008)*, I'm running *Mac OS X 10.5.8* and 'Software Update' doesn't list this update as available for my current hardware/system. I've downloaded it and tried to install, no go: *"Your computer does no need this update."*
(present System Profiler info)
*ROM Revision: 113-B2250L-259*
*EFI Driver Version: 01.00.259*
