Network printing with XP and Canon MP480

I have a Canon MP480 connected to my XP machine. My windows machine and macbook pro are on the same network and can both browse each other's files. When I go to Add a Printer in leopard, I can see the Canon on the windows machine and I can add it to my macbook pro. However, nothing happens when I try to print. I was told using the default Canon drivers doesn't work for networked printers, so I tried finding a Gutenprint driver. I couldn't find one for the MP480, so I tried a few that were close (MP500, MP150, etc.). With the Gutenprint drivers, I see the jobs from my macbook pro show up in the windows print queue, and the printer lights turn on as if something is going to happen, but nothing ever prints. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

(note: this is all after weeks of problems setting this printer up with my time capsule)

When trying to find an equivalent printer model within the Gutenprint driver set, the best rule of thumb is to base it on the inks being used.

Searching the Canon web site for the model that use the same inks as your MP480, I could only find models that were not listed as supported within Gutenprint v5.2.4.

There is a driver set available from PrintFab, which does list the MP480 as a supported model, however there is a cost involved with getting them.

You mention you couldn't get the printer working with the TC. What was happening?
