M-Tron Pro can't install in Snow Leopard

Thank you for reading this.

I now have Snow Leopard 10.6.1 and even with 10.6.0, the only software that doesn't install is my mellotron. The M-Tron Pro is the latest (if that is possible in a 70s way) version. The not very fab alert states, This installer requires admin privileges to run. It also states in another window that there is a GFUI Error, and the File Not Found. I can't find what a GFUI is, despite searching the World Wide Web, as far as Strawberry Fields! I've unlocked everything in the Get Info window, I am the only user and administrator and there is nothing on the G-Force web site that offers a solution to this problem. Their site forum is rarely accessed by the diminishing number of mellotron users. I know it is an issue with Snow Leopard and M-Tron, but I thought I'd check here to see if any prog poppers have a prognosis.

I'm not on Snowcat yet, but have you tried emailing GForce? I have the older MTron, not the Pro version.

Thank you. I did download the version from the G-Force site yesterday and it made no difference. I have M-Tron Pro DVD marked as Version 1.0, and the download is version 1.9.5. I'm glad you had an easy install, xsubs. It's a fun plug in. Thanks Bobbi, I'll mail G-Force and get their input. I think it might be a Snow Leopard problem, since it works fine on Leopard.

Wayne
I'm running Logic9 under SL 10.6.1 and while the standalone M-Tron Pro works perfectly I did notice that the AU plug-in failed verification under Logic. I checked the box and told Logic to ignore the verification, and have been using M-Tron Pro all day without any issues.
Hope that helps...
I'm sure GForce is looking at this, but glad that it works even though verification fails.

I opened the Show Package Contents of the M-Tron Pro installer. Inside Contents/Resources/Installer Items, I simply copied the items to the same folders they occupy in Leopard. I dragged my Leopard hard drive alias to my Snow Leopard Dock, and could quickly identify what went where while still in Snow Leopard. That got the standalone M-tron Pro working with my USB keyboard. I needed to restart the computer for the M-Tron Pro plug-in in Logic to work. However, it's a fine Sunday morning here in Yokohama. I mailed GForce and gave them the details of my dilemma, so they have the information as well. Thanks you xsubs, and Bobbi for your input. We are back to three mellotron users in the new millennium!

I am so pleased to know that somebody succeeded installing M-Tron Pro, there is a way to go through these installation problems .
Please could you give me more information :
1/ you said "I opened the Show Package Contents of the M-Tron Pro installer" ... How do you do it ?
2/ other precision needed : you said "I copied the items to the same folders they occupy in Leopard"
Where is it.
I have just offered this software to my brother and he had already installed the snow leopard version.
He was so happy to use it on his logic .... Thanks for your help.

I was having the same problem with installing the Virtual Synth Module (VSM) from GForce. Here's how I got around it.

mount the .dmg file and copy the installer to your desktop
go into the installer folder (right click show package contents) and go to:

/String Machine/Double-Click To Install String Machine.app/Contents/Resources/

open the installscript.plist file and change the Require Admin field to FALSE.

Save the file, quit, and go back to the beginning and run the file. It will quickly prompt you for your admin password and install properly.

thank you! this workaround worked out perfectly for me. i was getting scared because i can't imagine not using the virtual string machine now that i'm on snow leopard. i can't imagine why gforce hasn't taken 10 minutes to update their site's support section for this product to include this fix/workaround. like how long has snow leopard been out now? ludicrous!

Hi Wayne Johnson, I'm having the same problem now that you seemed to be having in September...but you never really specified at any point WHERE the locations were in Snow Leopard (and leopard) that you used for your M-Tron Pro installation. I'd like to do the same sort of thing, but I have no Leopard OS like you did to work off of. Can you shed some light on this?

Thanks

I'd like to confirm that i had the same problem - admin priviliges required. G-Force support explained that this was because the supplied application was not universal binary and that I needed to download the latest version from their web site.
I did, and everything worked fine.
Of course it was a bit painful to have to download an update before I could use the product, but I guess that that's what software synths are all about.
