ICON 225 3G Dongle

I have on of these to use on Orange in the UK. It was always a bit flakey on Leopard - I have to re-install the software every now and then.

On Snow Leopard it just caused Kernel Panics. The software is on the memory stick part of the dongle, so doesn't seem to be updatable.

Any suggestions or similar experiences?

Hi, I have some good news for you.

I have managed to get my Orange ICON 225 to work on 10.6.1.

On a virgin system (no previous ICON 225 installation) i downloaded the new drivers from OPTION linked on an earlier post. I then installed the Orange Business Anywhere software from the Orange website. Worked first time.

If you already have an existing ICON 225 installation, i would suggest that you find out how to completely remove it (drivers, software and network ports) and then install new drivers, then Business Anywhere.

i installed the new driver on my macbook unibody and i managed to get it connected. only the happiness is only for 5 minutes. then the machine crashes completely. usb connection gone. so usb keyboard (also internal keyboard) and mouse are gone! or a spinning beachball when opening network preferences.
running kernel in 32 or 64bit does not make any difference! the drivers ***** bigtime.

i tried the driver on my imac snow leopard before removing leopard from my macbook. when i managed to get this working, i did not test the stability..... tooo bad now hoping for a new driver.
already send information to option. hope they have a solution soon.

Hello,

I edited my previous post to include a link to the software. Looks like it didn't save.

Anyhoo, here is the link...

http://www.business.orange.co.uk/servlet/Satellite?pagename=Business&cid=1135315 301990&c=OUKPage&rootid=1130996672026&roottype=NavMenuItem&extarg1=1135315302187 &extarg2=OptionICON+225+USBModem&extarg4=select

Interestingly, after using the device for a few minutes to ensure it was actually providing a net connection, i left it plugged in to my Mac Pro.

As a previous post mentioned, i also had some USB problems. My keyboard stopped working and required a restart to fix.

Hopefully, these bugs will get sorted out. Good luck.
