Double-tap home button to get music in apps - gone in v3.1 - workaround?
I hate it that Apple has not made a universal setting that lets people mute application sounds. When I get really immersed in a game, I can play the same thing for hours at a time, and I'd like my music to be on top of that. I know some newer apps are touting features that "let you play your own music library" but not all apps offer this. The workaround was to double-tap the home button to get the music player opening within the app. This effectively died with v3.1, apparently, since it's not working for me anymore.
So here's the question: is there another workaround that will let me play the tunes I want instead of listening to the same 1 minute segment of some game music for 4 hours straight? You have no idea how annoying that is.
Any ideas? And does anyone know why Apple removed this? Bug, maybe?
Stuff I build, usually, or a Macbook Air,
I have lots of computers. Most of my support issues don't pertain to computers.
You can also turn your music on with your headphones, either wired or wireless bluetooth ones, as long as they have a remote. this works for me in 99% of all apps.
I'm running 3.1.2 and while running an app I can double click to bring up the Mini player. So that works fine for me. I've never had the ability to however, bring up the mini player when there is NO music playing. In that case it would close the app and do whatever you have the settings specified to do (like open up Favourite contacts, open the full iPod, etc.)
If you click the play button on your headphones it will start music playing, or pause it already is playing. This works in apps or on your home screen. If you have played music recently, itll start in the same playlist; if not, itll start playing randomly.
Swanny, see, that's the problem. Now the apps are turning off your music and there's no ability to get the music back. It used to happen in firmware 2.x but not in 3.x. I'm going back to 2.x. It's very unfortunate.
I think I noticed it when playing Need for Speed Undercover. it'll let you listen to your own music though occasionally it'll turn the music off to play a video, though rather than return to the music after it says "double click the Home button to resume your own music". You do that but it closes the game and does whatever you have the Home button set to do when double clicking. Only way to get around it in 3.x is to jailbreak it and install the iPodPop app. Which is a pain.
like i said earlier, headphones will give you the option to start your music without accessing the music app. you can do this from inside an app, with a couple different headphones, such as: apple in-ear headphones, the ones that ship tih the newest ipt's and also many bluetooth headphones.
