Can't double click to play songs, any fixes?

I used to be able to double click on a song to play it, then double click on another one to play that. Not anymore. Now I have to highlight it and use the play button above. If I want to play another song in the same playlist, I first have to switch from the current playlist to another one, then switch back to the current one and choose another song. The controls at the top bar don't work too well either. At one time I got rid of my iTunes and re-downoaded it and it fixed the problem. Then I had to restore my system to Leopard (after a brief unhappy experience with Snow Leopard) and it's not working again, even after downloading a new iTunes from Apple. Anyone had the same experience? Any fixes?

I don't have your problems. Double-click works as expected in playlists and my music library. I checked System Preferences -> Mouse and I have my double-click speed set on the third tick from the right end.

You might try deleting your iTunes Preferences File. You can quit iTunes and then delete the com.apple.iTunes.plist file in your user account/Library/Preferences. When you next launch iTunes, you will have to reestablish all your preferences, but it may help.

Thanks for the info, but I found out the source of the trouble. I didn't mention that I have been using a Logitech wireless mouse. I like it because it has a right and left clickers and a rolling center which enable many functions. After reconnecting my regular mouse the iTunes songs play as before, with a double click. So now I got them both connected.

I am having the exact same problem. I am using an apple wireless mouse though and it works for everything else and worked up until I updated itunes. There has to be an issue with the new iTunes for it to be behaving like this. Let me know if you have found any solutions besides using 2 mice!
