Genius Mixes not showing at all.

Genius Mixes are not showing in iTunes 9 at all. Here's what I've done so far, not in :

- Turned Off Genius, and quit iTunes.
- Deleted my ~/Library/Cookies folder.
- Deleted the ~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Library Genius.itd file.
- Enabled Genius, and Updated Genius.
- Quit iTunes, and deleted all iTunes preference files.
- Reinstalled iTunes 9

I'm out of ideas. Any more thoughts?

I'm out of ideas too! It's strange if you have no trouble updating genius. I have read somewhere on these forums people attributing this problem to tracks with the dreaded ! (exclamation mark).

You can use the "Super Remove Dead Tracks" script from Doug's Applescripts for iTunes site, to check.

However, if you've created a new library, and copied your music over - you shouldn't be seeing any tracks with exclamation marks.

Could it be possible that you're not waiting long enough for the Genius Mix to be appear? When I upgraded they didn't show up immediately - it takes some time for iTunes to generate them

Regards

Hi guys,
Ive having EXCACTLY the same problem, tryed all the fixes mention above and like you still not fixed. Tryed different User etc. Called apple support was on the phone for a whole 2 hours trying to fix and they asked me to reinstall this did not fix the problem: still Genius Mixes does not appear. Next i'm going to do a clean install ie. format the drive. I have been told this is a strange yet isolated OS problem (im running 10.6.1) and that clean install will fix. Just backing up time machine now to prepare for this. I'll tell you how I go. But in the meantime just to illustrate my problem see a screenshot here: http://mike.zeosdesign.co.nz/geniusmixnotshowing.png And as you can see normal Genius playlists work hm and another note we have the smae Mac and specs ... interesting.

I've tried all the fixes including deleting the "Genius" database from the itunes folder thinking it might rebuild but I can't get the Genius to update.

One hopes that Apple will actually provide a fix since I don't want to muck around further as the benefit of having Genius Mix is pretty minimal except as a novelty versus the possibility of losing all the ratings and playlists from my huge library.

Tried that several times but it would return a 4002 error.

What finally worked is turning off Genius in the Menu. I had tried this yesterday but it hung for about an hour or so before I had to force quit out of itunes.

For some reason, this afternoon I was able to Turn off Genius and then Select Update -- and I now have Genius Mixes -- of course they are pretty useless as I suspected. 🙂
