iPhone OS 3.1 App Store Glitch

Hi,
After upgrading to the new iPhone OS 3.1, I am having problems with the App Store, specifically in the "Categories" tab. Instead of the usual headers such as "Games", "Utilities", etc. they all become "Category" with the Skype icon.

Does anyone else have this problem? And if so, how do I fix it?
I have already tried restarting and restoring, but that didn't work.

Help anyone?

I am having the same issue. Like others, I am locate in Canada as well, but don't think this is a Rogers specific issue. I am using a first gen iPod Touch with OS version 3.1.1 over WiFi with Telus as the ISP.

So the only common thing seems to be affected people are using Canadian accounts.

On a possibly related note, I am really getting angry at content providers putting up artificial blockades in my way of purchasing content. At least a dozen times in the past 6 months I have been forbidden access to shows, movies, websites etc because the "content is not authorized in my area."

Content providers: there is a whole world of torrents waiting for me download your stuff for free. If I am trying to BUY it from you, Sell me it, for crying out loud or stop complaining that illegal downloads are killing your business!

Sorry for my rant. By the way, I am NOT implying that category glitch is on purpose.

Hi Phil

what if i develop application and crash iphone operating system? dont you think this should be support by apple to resolve and fix these kind of issues or alleast support ? i would say apple should take this seriously as many customer will install skype and will be more concern. I would say skype is not fully tested on iphones yet and who knows what other glitches skype has.

Thanks

This is an issue with the Canadian app store database. I don't think it is an issue with the Skype app as I have the glitch but have never installed the Skype app. I am on a Rogers plan but they only provide a connection so how can you blame your service provider. I don't think it is related to any OS version as it seems users with many different versions are all having the same problem (mine is 3.0.1). I think Apple has made a change to the Canadian store which has messed things up for all of us with Canadian accounts. We all need to complain to Apple to get this fixed.

I don't think it is service provider or OS related. We have 2 iPhones and an iPod touch here that are all displaying the same problem. One iPhone is the latest OS the other is still 3.0. The Touch has no service provider obviously, and none of the devices have a Skype app yet. In fact my son was able to some how get the Skype icon changed to something else but the problem is still the same.

Good to know. Thanks for simply calling and sharing the information. I imagine the fix is coming fast - Apple, Rogers, Skype all great companies and great partners - like Canada and the US. Although I thought someone was going to blame it on their cat....:) I think my cat stood on my iPhone...? a poor Canadian cat? NO!!! etc. Thanks again. Exciting development - Skype on iPhone.

Good points, it might not be Rogers but it is mostly us canucks who see this happening.
Also I dont even have skype installed, never have & I have the icons in the categories list.

Other issues: lower volume when typing, screen transitions not as smooth (sluggish), spinning wheel next to wifi gets stuck (only spins between 12 & 3 oclock position), after power down & placing on charger it turns on again (previously stayed off).
