How to change or delete automatic addresses in mail

I was wondering if it is possible to delete email addresses that automatically pop up when you type a letter in the address field of mail. I have several I would like to delete, but don't know how to do it. I thought these addresses came from the address book, but when I delete them there, the address still pops up.
Thanks for your help.

Richard,

In the Mail window menubar, click on Window, and choose Previous Recipients. Highlight any you wish to delete, and click Remove.

Hey, maybe the first guy didn't thank you...but I AM! It was driving me crazy seeing all these useless addresses in Auto-fill. Now they're gone!!

Thanks again!
