Canon: MP Navigator EX 2.0

Hi

I use an MP480 printer. Canon drivers have been updated for SL. However, for scanning I must now go through System_preferences/printer. The MP Navigator EX 2.0 app will no longer work (it's telling me the driver is not installed).

Anyone else with this problem?

CanoScan LiDE 200 was not responsive after installation of OS 10.6 SN. Solution that worked for us (same as with the HP Color LaserJet 2840): Unplug the scanner, delete the scanner in System Prefs, reboot the iMac, reboot the scanner, go to System Prefs / Printer / Fax. If the scanner is listed, then delete it again. Then add the scanner & scan a document. I hope that this helps.

There is another place where you can scan from: in your /Users/[name]/Library/Printers is an application called CanonScan LiDE 200. This will launch and will scan and save your images, with a fair amount of scanning options available - enough to make it still useful. You could drag it to your Dock to make it more easily available.

The most recent Canon software is listed as 'printer' software, from the Apple site here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL899. It's reported to work with Snow Leopard but I haven't seen any change with MP Navigator EX 2.0

Thanks for the note about Canon updating their drivers for 10.6

The [U.S.] link is found at:

Just installed and restarted and seems to work without any issues. In the process of working without this for a while, I also discovered that Image Capture will also scan what's in CanoScan.

OK, I need some clarification. I'm trying to get MP Navigator EX 2.1 to work with my Canon MX860. I've gone to the link in this thread and found 2 different drivers on the Canon page, one says ICA driver for 10.6, the other LiDE 200 scanner driver. Which of these am I supposed to install? I've actually tried both, and although they say installed, no applications associated with them can be found, and my Navigator still gets same error message that it can't be found. Even going into system prefs can no longer see any scan option. I'm thinking off trashing anything Canon and starting over?

The link above, as it mentions, it for a Canon scanner. Your machine is a specific all-in-one printer + scanner. You need to be specific when looking for drivers. Going to the Canon website and looking for the Canon MX860 yielded this:

http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=DownloadDet ailTabAct&fcategoryid=334&modelid=18121

Which is for your device. Hopefully this is the solution you were looking for. Let others know on this thread if it worked out. Thanks.

After a call to Canon, and the download and installation of the 2 drivers and 1 software file that was needed, back up and running. In my case, for the MX860, these files were needed:

http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=DownloadDet ailTabAct&fcategoryid=334&modelid=18121
