Error 32 on copying file

I have a large iPhoto file that I copy across my wireless network to a second iMac by dropping the iPhoto file icon in Finder to the drop box on the shared computer. I have done this many times - about a 5 hour transfer. Since upgrading to OS X 10.5 and iPhoto 09 (and that may just be a coincidence) I am getting an Error 32. Have checked the file permissions and they are OK. The documentation (Help info) seems to indicate I should check that no subsidiary folders (I assume, Events) are locked. I remember having to do something like this once before, but can't remember how. Can anyone help?

iMac 2.4GHz, Mac OS X (10.6), iPhoto 09 (Version 8.1)

Thanks TD. Tried what you suggested, and I still get the same problem (it's actually an Error 36, not 32 as I said earlier).

I recall having a similar problem months ago (although my memory is a bit off these days) and thought I had to go through a pile of folders one by one checking permissions, but this doesn't seem to be possible with iPhoto where there seems just to be the high level library folder. Any further suggestions would be appreciated.

The 36 error is an I/O error and suggests that one or more of the files is unreadable for some reason.

Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.

Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Regards

TD
