iTunes 9.0 toolbar in the Windows Taskbar doesn't work anymore

Anyone else having this problem? The iTunes window disappears and the usual toolbar interface shows on the taskbar but the controls have no functionality. You click them and nothing happens - you can't even get the normal iTunes window back unless you have the system tray icon on. Worked before with iTunes 8 and it seems to be a problem all versions of Windows. I've tried it on XP, Vista and 7 and they all had the same problem.

Not sure I fully understand. But everything works for me when right-clicking on the iTunes icon in the system tray.

Edit > Preferences > Advanced - Enable 'Show iTunes icon in system tray'
and also 'Minimize iTunes window to system tray'

Another alternative could be to have the mini taskbar player show up when minimizing iTunes.
Then you need to first activate 'iTunes' in the tool field by right-clicking in there. Then de-select the 'Show iTunes icon in system tray' and 'Minimize iTunes window to system tray' in preferences.

I'm talking about the iTunes toolbar that appears on the taskbar when iTunes is minimised. I use the system tray icon too that shows when iTunes is open but I don't have iTunes minimise to the system tray.

I already have the iTunes toolbar selected in the Windows toolbars section and have tried de-selecting/selecting it but the functionality of the toolbar is still not there. None of the buttons work at all.

Hm, it looks like you may have to re-install iTunes 9, or at least chose 'repair' itunes if there's such an option.
I've seen some people on the net having the same or similar issue as you and they have solved their problem by re-installing or updating iTunes to the latest version.
But since you already have the latest one, then I'm not sure.

This can happen if the iTunes COM interface is not registered. To fix this, follow these steps

1. Quit iTunes.
2. Navigate to where iTunes.exe resides on the hard disk:
\Program Files\iTunes
or
\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
3. Right-click in the Address field at the top of the Windows Explorer window and choose Copy Address.
4. From the Windows Start menu, type cmd in the Search field and press Enter.
XP users will need to choose Run... from the Start menu, type cmd and press Enter
5. Type cd followed by a space (but don't press Enter)
6. Right-click in the window and choose Paste.
7. Press Enter.
8. Type this:
iTunes.exe /regserver
9. Press enter.
10. Open iTunes.

Does this fix it?
