Recording voiceover while video clip is playing

I'm trying to assemble a movie of a European trip. Some of the audio from the camcorder tape is difficult to understand because of wind noise. I would like to record a new audio track while the video clip is running so that I can synchronize my narration to the video. I can't figure out a way to record audio while the video clip is running). Any thoughts?

iMac, dual Intel 2.4 gH, 1GB RAM, Mac OS X (10.6)

Thanks TSilver. Based on the video link, I think I left out an important parameter: I'm using iMovie V7.1. Thus, it doesn't look like the screens in the video which I assume are from iMovie09. Still, I'm not sure that even the new iMovie lets you record the voiceover while the video clip is playing. It talks about recording the voiceover audio, then dragging the audio clip to the correct position vis-a-vis the video clip. But if I can record the audio while the video is playing it will be synchronized with no, or minimal, dragging. In any case, I appreciate your help.

I have imovie 09 and it's pretty easy to record voice over while the clip is playing. Simply select the microphone and where you want to start recording and iMovie prompts you with a 1,2,3 countdown when to start talking. You can even edit or re-record your audio if you wish. What's pretty nice is that you can set the audio level to a percentage like 75% which still allows you to hear the original audio but your voice would be dominant.

What I'd like to do is be able to pause the video and keep talking. Does anyone know if this is possible in 09 and if so, how is it done ?? Thanks !!

Thanks. puckcoach3. I was gradually coming to the conclusion that the iMovie I'm using (7.1) doesn't support recording audio while the video clip is playing (the microphone is grayed out when you start the video clip).

Apparently I'm due for an upgrade to iLife 09.
