iphone 3g black screen

My iphone screen recently went black and doesn't respond to anything. I tried holding down the home button for 10 seconds to reset it, but still nothing. It doesn't even respond when I plug it into itunes. iTunes doesn't recognize it either. Any ideas?

To reset the phone you'll have to hold the sleep and home button until you see the Apple logo.
