Question

Status: Failed - 3x crash service down-????

I tried to run Compressor on a HD ProRes reference file and I got this error message:
"Status: Failed - 3x crash service down"
This occurs fairly quickly in the processing, like about 22 seconds into the process.
I am compressing to a DVD.

Anyone know what this error message means?
OS10.5.7 Compressor 3.5 (FCS 3).

Try removing Perian if you do have it installed.

Same problem here.
I don't have Perian installed.
Any other suggestions?

I've been having the same problem for weeks. do you have Little Snitch or NetBarrier?

I just disabled it and the file I've been having problems with earlier today just processed fine.

Not sure if this will help anyone... but I was having the '3x crash services down' message pop up everytime I tried to compress a particular FCP project to MPEG-2... I was having no trouble with other edits. Having exhausted every option and getting really frustrated, I ran over the project with a fine tooth comb and found some minute gaps between the clips. I closed the gaps and sent it to compressor and it worked beautifully. Bloody technology.
