beeping audio

Mac OS 10.5.5
FCP 6.0.6
QT 7.6.2

I have MP4 video clips in my bin.
H264 codec
48k audio in the video clip

my video clips play fine in the viewer no beeping audio. Clips on the timeline have the red bar for audio and playback with beeps. Why one and not the other. Thanks for any insights.

Try to render all and see/listen if the beeps are still there.

I means unsupported/not render audio format. You shouldn't edit MP4 in FCP. MP4 isn't an editing format it's a delivery format. You could run into problems editing MP4 in FCP.

Use either Quicktime Pro or Compressor to convert the video to a format for both video and audio that FCP likes...for example Prores. You'll be a happy camper if you do.

thanks Dave, OK so I'll transcode. But wont Prores up the file size........a lot. Thanks. I find some HD format that FCP likes.
