XDCAM Transfer Error

I'm importing some XDCAM clips shot on an EX3 into FCP using the XDCAM Transfer application. They were shot on an SDHC card with an adapter. All of the clips are transferring over no problem except for one.

I narrowed it down to which one is not transferring over and have tried pulling it in separately full and with In/Out points. Every single time it begins to transfer, gets about a third of the way done and then XDCAM Transfer Application gives me an error telling me the device has not been removed properly and then quits unexpectedly. This is very weird to me because the clip plays just fine in the XDCAM Transfer application.

Does anyone know what could be causing this?

Is there any other way to extract this clip?

Thanks!

Also to clarify a little further...

I am running Leopard 10.5.8 on FCP 6.0.6

I am trying to import into FCP via Sony XDCAM Transfer application with no luck. The same clip will not back up or export using Sony XDCAM Clip Browser either.

I am lost for direction here because the clip plays PERFECT in both of those applications with no glitches or hang ups. It is not spanned onto 2 cards, only the one.

Has anyone used Calibrated Software to natively watch and export XDCAM clips in QT Pro? I'm wondering about that...

I was advised to try copying the clip from media card A to media card B using the camera and try importing from that. I tried going from the original SDHC to a Sony SxS card. It begins to copy and gets to about 20% and says, "Media Error. Media A needs to be restored." I restore and try again, same thing.

Can anyone else think of ANYTHING that might work?

Yes the clip will fully playback through on the camera and also in XDCAM Clip Browser & XDCAM Transfer. This is a great idea to go out via HD/SDI BNC however, my Mac Pro does not have a card with the proper inputs to accept this connection. Don't you need a BlackMagic Card or a Matrox or AJA for this?

My next question, would it be possible to out via the HDV firewire iLink? The clip is 720P30 so I don't even know if this would work...

I don't know the answer to the question about using the HDV firewire link, but my thinking is unless the original file was recorded as an HDV file, probably not.

Yes, you will need to use a Blackmagic or Aja device. I would think in NY there would be a system like that on every other street corner. Take your camera to an edit facility that can ingest the HD/SDI video, and then leave with the file on a portable Hard Disk to take back to your system.
You'll be charged of course, but maybe you can work out a deal, and in any event, cheaper than a re-shoot.

Good luck!
