iPod Touch WiFi problems

Recently I have updated my iPod Touch 2G from 2.2.1 to 3.1.1. and since I updated it, it comes with this situation:
-It connects to the internet
-The internet stops working after a really little while, but the WiFi signal bars still showing
-I power off the internet of my iPod and turn it on after a while
-Same problem repeats

When I was on the 2.2.1 version I never had this problem and I have already tried many things to make it work, such has unplug my router and plug it in again and such.

So, how can I fix this problem?

Thanks in advance
-Chris S.

I'm having similar problems, I let the battery go all the way down, and after recharge, iPod is unable to detect any wireless networks - not having the settings> general> wifi> "wifi on/off" is grayed out issue that some 1st generation iPod touch users are seeing after upgrade from 2.1.4 to 3.1.1 Everything in config appears fine, just can't see wifi now. Reset to factory defaults, then restored - no luck, erased memory on device then reset, then restored to known good configuration, still no wifi. Naturally I'm 30+ days past the end of the 1 year warranty. Any suggestions?

I couldn´t edit my post so this is my result:
After doing what Steve M. said (disconnecting and reconnecting my iPod to my router/modem) my connection have not been lost, I have done many tests with the Speedtest app, like each 5 or 10 mins until now, and I have not lost my connection, I even turned my iPod off and turned it back on and still working. I also have opened many applications that use internet and all of them worked perfectly.
Thanks for all the help

It worked perfectly with my iPod when it was on 2.2.1, for my both sisters iPod works perfect (they are on 2.2.1)
I told my father about this problem and he has actually this same problem with his blackberry, he says that the new firmware doesn´t support my old router, so this weekend we are going to my weekend house, where I have a new router, and test my iPod.

So I think that I need a new router in my house. I will find out if it works this weekend

Thanks for all the help

I don't know how common this is but mine started doing it also in the past few days.
I upgraded to version 3 when it first came out, so I don't think it's a v2 vs v3 thing.

If I go to settings and turn wifi off then back on I can get things to work for a little while,
(1 or 2 mins) but it gets stuck or hangs up again.

The wifi signal is allways good, but the activity spinny thing just keeps spinning.

This has become a major pita 😟
I have had to turn the wifi on/off once while trying to reply to this message.
