Itunes application cannot be opened/ error code 13014

I don't understand it but I have had itunes for years and my Mac have worked so well. Now all of a sudden my itunes just will not open??? I get a message" iTunes application cannot be opened. An unknown error occurred (13014)"

I have tried to download iTunes again but can't do that either.I get "cannot create file" message. Have read others discussions and tried deleting " iTunes Library Genius.itdb" which have worked for many but does not work for me. I really do not know what to do?????

Powerbook G4, Mac OS X (10.4.10)

Have you tried to repair your permissions and restart?

Restarting often clears up unusual behavior... especially when it sounds like more than one problem.

When I get this error I reopen itunes with the "option" key pressed and then choose my itunes library file on the NAS and itunes opens as it should.

Doesn't happen every time I open itunes and has happened on other computers I use.

Maybe there is a intermittent issue with having the entire itunes folder on my NAS and used by multiple computers? I only have itunes open on 1 computer at a time. I have used a "alias" and a symbolic link to point to the NAS itunes folder from each computer and have had the error with each.
