Iphone won't sync anymore, to any pc.

Hello everyone, I hope you guys can help.

I have this first gen iphone. It has a huge problem. It does not sync anymore or anything. I have tried 3 different pcs and 2 different cables, and nada. Each time I plug it in it says usb device not recognized. Even if I put it in DFU mode it still says usb device not recognized and comes up as unknown device in device manager. Is this a software problem? If I can't connect to the pc how am I supposed to restore my iphone?

Thanks.

I'm a PC, Other OS, Win7 FTW--Macs are cool too.

If it is a software problem, your iPhone is not being recognized by any of the computers you have connected your iPhone to, so there is no way to restore your iPhone with iTunes.

If not a hardware problem and your iPhone is recognized by a Mac at an Apple store, your iPhone can be restored with iTunes there as a new iPhone. If not and a diagnostic check reveals a hardware problem and your iPhone is no longer under warranty, if you want another first generation iPhone, Apple offers an out of warranty or not covered under the warranty "repair" price, which is a discounted exchange price. This will cost $199 plus tax, which will include a warranty.
