Samsung CLP-300 Rastertosec failed.

I tried speaking with Samsung to no avail. Does anyone know why this is happening? I have the latest drivers. All Samsung would say is that "It is not a known issue with this printer." I tried resetting printer services and that still doesn't work. Is it time for a new printer?

You installed old version of Samsung drivers (designed for 10.4.x or even older system), before you try to print to your printer. Your 10.6 driver should have already been installed on your system, with the OS. You should do the following:
1. Delete the /Library/Printers/Samsung folder.
2. Delete the printer queue (in "Print & Fax" preferences).
3. Disconnect the printer from the computer.
4. Reboot your computer.
5. Connect your printer back to your computer.
6. A dialog should come up asking you whether you want to download and install the driver, say "yes".

Same issue here..

MB pro, 10.6.1, samsung CLP300N via bonjour.

Every time I attempt to print from safari, I get /Library/Printers/Samsung/Filters/rastertosec failed (from 'job info')

Have tried, doing a rm on the various samsung files, then reboot, then printer add and download from apple. no joy. no improvement.

terry$ ls -al /Library/Printers/Samsung/Filters/rastertosec
-rwxrwxr-x 1 root admin 263120 1 Jul 15:26 /Library/Printers/Samsung/Filters/rastertosec

terry$ file /Library/Printers/Samsung/Filters/rastertosec
/Library/Printers/Samsung/Filters/rastertosec: Mach-O universal binary with 2 architectures
/Library/Printers/Samsung/Filters/rastertosec (for architecture x86_64): Mach-O 64-bit executable x86_64
/Library/Printers/Samsung/Filters/rastertosec (for architecture i386): Mach-O executable i386

This is a killjoy. 😟

Any suggestions anyone?

Terry

Yes. I tried doing these thing multiple times in conjunction with uninstalling and reinstalling the latest drivers.

I am not sure what else I can try. I know that there are other people with the CLP-300 that aren't having any problems. I really don't know what to try next, other than doing a clean reinstall.

I have the same problem in my Macbook Unibody, but my Mac Pro, Macbook Pro and Macbook Pro Unibody are working fine with my 2 printers, one samsung clp-300 and the other a samsung ml-2010. I just have this problem with my clp-300 in my macbook unibody. All my Macs are in the 10.6.1 with the same printer drivers.

This is really driving me crazy.

Macs are great, i love mac and all the platform, every thing just works, usually, but when it doesn't it REALLY not gonna work.

Ah I think the printing system reset did it.

This is what I did, in this order:

1) deleted the print queue ( & closed system preferences)
2) sudo rm -rf /Library/Printers/Samsung /Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources/Samsung* /Library/Image\ Capture/Devices/Samsung\ Scanner.app
3) opened print & fax, 'reset printing system'
4) reboot
5) added the printer (with the auto download of drivers)

Printing to my CLP300N now works.

Cheers

Hi Terry,

Even when I delete or uninstall my CLP-300 drivers, I never get prompted to download the driver. When I run software update, it never finds an update, so I have been downloading the drivers from Samsung. Did you do anything special to get it to work?

I have no discovered that I am getting the Rastertosec failed message on the following.
- Excel 2008 (although Word works perfectly).
- Anything using firefox.
- Any PDF's
- Tux Paint (a Kid's painting program)

This is very frustrating.

Well.. that is a start 🙂

are you trying to print pdfs via preview or adobe.

I don't have tux paint installed, but firefox seems to work fine for me.

I provided everything I did in my previous post. I did nothing further, nor anything special or beyond that. Does tux and firefox still result in the same error? (do a 'job info' on the failed print job in the print queue)

Cheers
Terry
