How Do I Delete the "Automatically Add to iTunes" Folder?

I am really not interested in this feature and can't figure out how to get rid of it...

I always delete the folder when it creates itself when I open iTunes, but I want it gone forever.

Can't find anything in the iTunes preferences. Can anyone help me disable this?

Thanks.

You could try going to File>Library>Organize Library and unchecking Update to iTunes Media organization but I don't really think that will do it. I think the folder is just put there by the new iTunes. As it is inside the Music folder, you don't really need to even look at it. It shouldn't cause any harm.

What I've done is added an alias to that folder to my desktop. Anything I put in it will be automatically added to iTunes.

Ahem...You sound like people complaining that the steering wheel in your car is in the way...and maybe if enough people complain Ford will remove it in future models.

If you're using other folders than the default for your music folders, or even if you are using the default and just want easy access to it, try putting an alias to that folder on your desktop.

You could try to create a 'folder action' with 'automator' for your 'iTunes music' (or 'iTunes media') folder, putting a finder object to trash, or something like that.
This should delete the 'automatically add to iTunes' folder every time, you open 'iTunes music' ('iTunes media').

P.S. Didn't try it myself, cause i love this feature.

I have Hazel running on my machines and just applied a new rule, so everytime
iTunes creates this folder, it goes straight to the Trash. For me this feature ist
useless and I hate applications doing things they were not asked for. Apple still
has to work on iTunes 9, both this feature and the color of the background in
grid view must be selectable.

Why?

Why not? We are free men. My iTunes folder is also the the desktop because I want to have
quick accesss to the files iTunes imports and it is pretty annoying to have it cluttered by
applications equipped with dubious features I can't turn off. I am organizing my music library
by myself, manually, and I don't need a software nanny for this.

Okay. Don't use it then.
I want to have quick accesss to the files iTunes imports

You can't make an alias or put it in the dock or add it to the sidebar in a Finder window, or in iTunes, right click show in Finder?
But if you choose to do it another way, okay.
and it is pretty annoying to have it cluttered by applications

It is part of iTunes. It is not a separate application.
equipped with dubious features I can't turn off.

Dubious? It add items to iTunes and moves them to the iTunes music/media folder. Nothing dubious about it at all.
Many, many, many users have been screaming for this since iTunes was released.
I am organizing my music library by myself, manually, and I don't need a software nanny for this.

Then don't use it.

yeah, this feature baffles me. I guess because it centers around the idea of having Apple organize your **** for you... Uhhhhh I want to organize my music in the folders I create, the way I want it. I want the folders containing my files where I want to put them. I care about my MP3 files, they are my music and thus I don't want to trust/rely on a piece of bloated software sweeping them under the rug and telling me that everything is ok with them.

The only reason I use iTunes is because I like my iPhone. However, iTunes and Apple are almost good enough reason to try a new smart phone to be honest.

Wish I could just turn this feature off.
