HP DeskJet F4280 printing issues

HP DeskJet F4280 printing issues

Ok running OSX 10.6.1 on a MacBook,
AEBS with firmware 7.4.1
Airport Utility 5.4.2

I've set up the printer and both the AEBS recognizes the printer and so does the Mac and I can add it through the normal manner in the Fax/Printer pref pane.

But when I try to print a test page I get an error that the response was bad "too short"? I've tried adding it manually and still no go.

Has anyone else had any luck adding the F4280 with a similiar config as mine?

Any help would be appreciated.

Sometimes the "Reset Printing System" trick will straighten things out. See attached link.

But, it would also be a good idea to first work your way through the troubleshooting guide step by step first. Apple recommends the "reset" as basically a last resort.

Thanks, I've tried everything right up to the reset printing system. I'll give that a go tonight and see how it works.

Well just tried everything you suggested and I still get the following error when I try to initially print.

"Unable to read response header - short read"

Ok so I updated the AEBS to 7.4.2 and now printing works like a charm. Only drawback is that my Drobo disconnects randomly and causes my whole system to hang.

One step forward two steps back 😟
