iPod cannot be synced. I do not have enough access privileges for this op.

This is a new thing since I just got a new computer last week. I was using an older Dell Latitude (640?) and now have an E6400. I have deauthorized the old computer and authorized the new computer, which contains my library, and I get the following message when I plug in my iPod to sync: The iPod "Cindy's iPod" cannot be synced. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation. Anyone know how to fix this problem? I'm using Windows XP SP3. Thanks!

Hello FentoCy,
And welcome to Apple Discussions!

It sounds like a permissions problem is occuring somewhere.

Navigate to your iTunes Music folder that will probably reside in your "My Music" folder of *My Documents*, right->click on the folder and choose "Properties. From there, you should see a separate window pop up. Make sure the folder is set to both Read and Write and then tick the box that will apply it to all subfolders as well. Also, head to the Security tab and make sure that your user account is allowed access. See if that helps.

For more help on setting permissions and such with Windows XP, check out this document.

Hope this helps.

I went through the steps you indicated and it still does not allow me to sync. I also have PointSec Protector on my computer at work, so I thought maybe that was causing the problem even though iPods are excluded from the list of protected devices. I turned off the client service to see if that was the problem, but now it doesn't even see the iPod in iTunes. I was using the same version of Windows XP prior to getting the new computer and everything worked fine.

I have the same problem! And it ***** because my warranty has only just run out yet this is a major hardware problem and they don't want to help. This has really put me off Apple products but I still love my iPod 😉. I really need a solution to this problem. I've bought 2 new usb cords - hard reset my ipod (4th gen 16gb nano) - restored it - but nothing works.

I'm going to be really sad until I find a solution 😟

I have a similar problem. I just got an Ipod a few days ago and I at first was able to sync songs into my Ipod. The first thing I did was install Intunes and then download songs into Itunes library and then I could sync the songs that were on the Intunes library. Once Itunes was installed, all I had to do was click on the Itunes icon that was at the bottom of my screen and I tunes would open up and all the songs I had downloaded would be there. But this last time I clicked on Itunes, Itunes started to install all over again. I had already installed it. After the installation, Itunes opened up, only this time with none of the songs I had already downloaded. Then when I tried to redownload some of the songs I had before, the songs downloaded to the Itunes library, but I was not able to sync it into my Ipod. Every time I hit the sync button, I would get a message that says **The Ipod"my name" cannot be synced. The required disk cannot be found.** There message had a red X with a circle around the it. I don't know what to do. Can someone help me???

I can provide the Ipod serial number and model, but I don't know my computer model. All I know is that I use Microsoft XP.

iPod cannot be synced. I do not have enough access privileges for this op.
