AfterEffects Error 2166 after QT 7 upgrade

I've had a problem with QT 7 and AfterEffects 5.5. I have seen others with similar problems using Mac OS. So the problem seems to be that the QT developers didn't bother with AfterEffects in their testing.

There was references to a 7.0.1 back installer for Mac OS X to 'solve' the problem. Is there an equivalent to 7.0.1 for Windows XP.

Hi,

I'm having the same problem. Someone may have answered my question here but I can see the replies. There are 7 posts in this discussion, but I can seem to be able to access them on this brain-dead site. (yes, I went to help, which told me to click on a non-existent view option button to change my view - I guess I just don't "think different" enough.)

Can anyone tell me if this problem was resolved - the quicktime error 2166 problem I mean.

I have not seen any more than your response to this topic, and no, there has been only one response on the quicktime-users e-mail list that I posed the problem to as well.

The only 'hope' is that because Mac OS AfterEffects users have also had a problem with the 7.0.2/7.0.3 QT, that maybe Apple will be imbarrased to fix it... but then it would have to probably be a FCP catastrophy to really get anything going.

The most recent AE stuff I've been doing has been MOS so I have not had to deal with the problem for a week. But until there's a 'fix', I'll revert back to 6.5.x when I need sound and AE to sync up exactly.
