iLife and Tiger/Leopard/Snow Leopard Question

My question regards to upgrading to Snow Leopard. I got an iMac back in summer f 07. When Leopard came out i bought it. I havnt upgraded to any of the new iLife's ever so does that mean when i upgraded to Leopard it kept the version of iLife that came on the computer? If i upgrade to Snow Leopard will i still have my original iLife?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

An iMac from 2007 (that had Tiger originally) would have had iLife '06. The next release was iLife '08.

iLife comes with new Macs, but the Mac OS X retail package does not have iLife included. So whatever version was previously installed remains installed. When you upgraded to Leopard, iLife '06 would have remained installed. When you upgrade to Snow Leopard, it should be the same thing. iLife '06 was out with the Intel Macs, so the individual apps should be Universal apps (native with both PowerPC and Intel). When I search Google on the topic of compatibility (iLife '06 with Snow Leopard), I see some conflicting and inconclusive reports. But I can't see why iLife '06 should not work with Snow Leopard.

There are forum categories for the individual iLife apps, so you may get more detailed responses if you post a question in that area. You can see them from the main Discussions page

I have just upgraded from Tiger to Snow Leopard - before I installed iLife 09 I thought I would check to see if iLife 06 still worked (just curious and have seen quite a few posts on various forums about whether it will/wont work with SL).

It works perfectly well - no problems at all - iphoto (v 6.0.6 - kept all my photos in there)/Garage Band/iDVD (v.6.0.4) etc. all worked without any glitches at all.

I have now updated to iLife 09 as there are some good new features in there that I want to to make use of. That said iLife 06 has been pretty good these past few years but its time to move on.

As for iWork 09 - not installed that yet but then I never used it in its 06 version so not that fussed about that package.

Hope that helps
