Hiragino Mincho / Serif font

Hi, I use my MB Pro for writing, and I'm looking for a serif font similuar to Hiragino Mincho Pro, which is included in OS X. The problem with Hiragino is that it doesn't include neither bold nor inherit. Does anyone have an idea of a good alternate? Times new roman is not an option.

Pardon my English; Swedish is my mother tongue.

Mac OS X (10.5.8)

Lad for pokker være med at undskylde, at du til daglig taler svensk. Du er flersproget og flersporet, og det er sgu bedre end at være smalsporet og enkeltsproget -:).

Mincho is as a serif whose style is based on the woodcut style of imperial China. In typographic terms, try a Fournier style transitional such as Hoefler that is not condensed and is intended for books instead of Times that is intended for periodicals. If you are willing to pay, then try a Garalde with a clear cut such as Adobe Garamond Premier.

Hiragino Mincho Pro > W3 = standard
Hiragino Mincho Pro > W6 = Bold

Maybe you dropped the W6 one.

I don't know what you named "inherit"

On my Snow Leopard machine the Font menu display

Hiragino Mincho ProN
and
Hiragino Mincho Pro

The first one is stored in <startupVolume>:System:Library:Fonts
The second one is stored in <startupVolume>:Library:Fonts

I don't see the difference.
Is it necessary to keep the second ?

Henrik Holmegaard:
Du har förstås helt rätt 🙂 Mange takk!

The font you suggested seems to be what I'm looking for. Though, as always, free fonts are to be prefered. I'm going to keep searching the internet for another option but I'll keep the Adobe Garamond Premier in mind.

KOENIG Yvan:
You're right, I could easily find the bold version. Inherit was not the right word - Italic is.

Tom Gevecke:
Thank you for your recommendation, though since I'm not planning to use my texts on other computers I'm free to use any font.

I built a chart with fonts delivered by default.

I wrote Hiragino with the alternate font whose name is on its right.
So you may easily compare with the true Hiragino.

At this time Hoefler is a bit annoying with Snow Leopard but Apple is already aware of the problem.

My own choice would be _Warnock Pro 14 (Light Display)_.
