Finder View Options not setting to default?

I want to change the background/view options and set them all the same in every folder.

Here's what I'm doing. Finder, Command-J, set the view options I'm wanting, click Set To Defaults.

In Leopard this would set those settings to every Finder window/folder. Since I've upgraded it only changes the settings to the one window that is open instead of setting them to Default.

Is there something I'm doing wrong? Some other way to change the default settings? Maybe through Terminal?

Any help would be appreciated

IIRC, it works the same in Leopard and SL. Once you set the options to defaults, it only applies to the current window and any new ones you open for the first time. Any previously opened windows retain their previous settings. The only global way to reset everything to zero is to blow away the hidden .DS_Store files associated with every folder that's been opened. That's left as an exercise.
