General consensus on 3.1 upgrade

I have a 2nd generation iPod Touch (32GB), and am considering upgrading to the latest version of the firmware. I have noticed a few people moaning here about problems they've had with it though, and thats got me a little concerned.

Whats the general consensus with this upgrade? Is it worthwhile installing it? Are there any gotchas I should be aware of?

Exellent point 🙂

I don't listen to any regular podcasts, so that shouldn't affect me. I primarily use my Touch as an (gasp) iPod, and therefore playing music is its primary function. I also play the occasional demo game on it, and use Safari, the Mail app, and its other online functionality.

I've decided to be brave, and give the update a go. At NZD$6.49, it won't be the end of the world if I have to revert back (I can revert back, right) 🙂

and if you want to use wifi, don't upgrade! 🙂 (just saying, and you know it's a problem--no sense arguing THAT point) wifi with 3.0 and 3.1.1 is very IFFY. I even had trouble with 2 brand new units at the Apple store, a few days ago. Neither 3dd gen 32GB Touchs with 3.1.1 connect to my mifi. No problem with an 8GB with 3.1

I'll 2nd that ... no wi-fi problems at all with 3.0 or with 3.1.1 on my 2nd gen Touch. I realize that there are many people with wi-fi issues with 3.x, but it never has been an issue at home or out and about at free hotspots. I guess I'm one of the healthy one that lurks in the halls of the infermery 😉

I don't like that 3.x breaks Live Updating on the iPod (if you use "Playlist Is" criteria) and that it makes my Touch barely usable with my car's iPod integration, but wi-fi is fine.
