ipod touch shake to shuffle question

hello everyone. im just curious how the shake to shuffle ipod touch thing is supposed to work, i just updated my ipod touch and haven't gotten it to work yet

ipod touch, Mac OS X (10.4.11)

Go to Settings -> Music and turn "Shake to Shuffle" ON. Then, it takes a hearty shake of the iPod. Gentle shaking won't do it.

i already had the shake to shuffle option on, and i shook it as hard as i could without it flying out of my hands. does genius need to be on at all also?

It depends on the type of stroke you are using. The shaking needs to be rapid and narrow.

i don't know if its just me or what, i tried shaking it short and rapidly as hard as i could too but i just can't get it to work. i may be screwed, oh well thanks for the help maybe ill visit a genius bar at a mac store near my place

lol, i finally figured out what i was doing wrong by going to youtube. leave it to me to try to do it the hard way and shake it from the home menu expecting music to pop up. thanks for your help everyone!

you must be joking - I had to turn mine off, it was far too sensitive - just walking with it in my pocket kept setting it off every 2 mins
