What is http://s3.amazonaws.com?

Since I upgraded to Safari 4.03 many of my downloads are coming up with an error that it can not connect to server http://s3.amazonaws.com…

Anybody else experiencing this and how do I get rid of it?

Peter

I did locate that site, but that is not where the graphics I am trying to use are located.

I can't go editing all the links on a page to correctly show the graphic, so how do I get around fixing this?

btw It does correctly render on at least one computer (at a different location) I have tried, but incorrectly on at least 7 others, including my ISP's test unit. All at different physical locations and using different ISPs.

Yes, I read your post. Since I cannot see what you're doing or what's on your system(s), we need to try to isolate the issue, which is why I suggested that course of action. If it works on one, it should work on the others, but they aren't all identical systems and configurations, so something must be different on them to cause the problem.

If you haven't already done it, you could also try re-setting Safari, and deleting the com.apple.Safari.plist file and then restarting Safari and re-establish the preferences as you like them.

HI Peter,

Try Safari Maintenance

Try repairing permissions also.

Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

Hey everyone.

Let me repeat.

The problem exists on 8 different computers.

3 of them PCs.

All of them in different locations, different networks and different ISPs.

The problem appears in Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer and Oasis.

The computers are alternatively running Leopard, Snow Leopard, Windows XP and Windows Vista.

3 of the Macs are in Apple Stores and have their system wiped everyday.

1 of the PCs is a test unit at my ISP and also has its system wiped regularly.

I have already wiped my Safari settings and dumped my cookies and cache days ago, all this did was wipe a lot of useful settings and links.

If you like you can try the addresses and see if they are effected at your locations as well, this will add to the statistics.

The last has a QT movie in the middle of the page which is greyed out with a ? over it.

I just tried the links in a PC running Windows XP:

The link to the iPhone works fine in the PC as well.

However, in the PC, the second link opens the page with the text and the screen, but the screen is blank (white) with no QT logo and no question mark, and there is what looks like a generic picture icon in the top left of the screen. No movie. Clicking on the picture icon has no effect.

What is http://s3.amazonaws.com?
