Volvo iPhone integration

Recently purchased a new Volvo XC60, and I'm having trouble integrating my iPhone 3G via the USB adapter.

Anyone else have similar issues or solutions??

I just test drove a 2010 Volvo XC60 and tried using my iPhone 3G. Attached the USB/sync dock connector cable that came with the iPhone and connected to the USB port in the inside of console. I was able to sync my address book and play songs. In the limited time I had, I was not able to figure out how to get to my playlists. The only choices I found were in the USB menu = random yes/no, and the choice to play folder or all songs. The folder choice limited songs to the playlist that had been chosen on the iPhone. The bluetooth paired and worked well. I was able to receive and make calls via hands free system. In the manual, it states:
+*Voice control:*+ +If the cell phone that is currently connected allows calls to be made via voice commands, this function can be used by pressing and holding ENTER.+ Since the iPhone 3G is not voice capable, I couldn't test this feature. Has anyone been able to get the playlists to show for the iPhone? Has anyone tried the voice recognition dialing on the iPhone 3GS?

Hi

I am posting this information as it may save a bit of googling!
I have a recently bought a 2008 XC70 that came fitted with an OEM Volvo ipod adapter.

The first problem is the well-documented "firewire charging issue". This is solved with the following adapter, which will charge the iphone and play the music through the head unit with great sound quality:

The Griffin adapter *DID NOT* work ( although it did for the Dension kit in my
wife's Audi!)

And now for the major downside!
Unfortunately I have not been able to come up with a solution to properly controlling the music. All I can do is select the album before plugging in the iphone - once it is plugged in I can find no way to access the ipod controls.

Voice commands do not work even though the voice screen is accessible by pressing and holding the home button. +(All your other apps are accessible and functional BTW)+. I have also tried both the FluxTunes and icarplayer Apps to try and bypass the volvo ipod adapter, but these don't work either. 😟

I have searched for a fix but have not found one.

Hi Kevin

I have just discovered that if I press the "Enter" button on the volvo dashboard you can browse a list that includes playlists, albums, artists, songs etc. If you select "albums" with the Enter key, you can then scroll through the names of your albums which appear in the radio display! So I now have full control without having to touch the iphone!
