Same Error with After Effects 6.5.1 and QuickTime 7.0.3
(On PowerBook G4, Mac OS X (10.4.3), 1024 MB RAM)

AFTER EFFECTS ERROR: Opening File "%s" . sound
channel - Can't open QuickTime handler (-2004).
(10§65)

Is there any alternate audio file format that might work - or does anyone think we need to reinstall an earlier version of QuickTime. According to Apple, QT6.5 is only compatible up to Panther - Mac OS X (10.3.9).

There is also a Reinstaller to revert back to QT 7.0.1, but I don't know if that version of QuickTime is compatible with After Effects 6.5.1.

Keep me posted. I'll keep trying.

Same problem here. Using AE 5.5 with OS X 10.3.9 and Quicktime 7.0.3. I get the error "opening sound component" when trying to render my file.

I am trying to revert back to a QT version that works, but the 7.0.1 reintaller won't work. It will not let me reinstall on my drive (i get the red exclamation point over the drive). Does it only work with 7.0.2?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. My deadline is looming!!!
