I have upgraded my macbook to Snow Leopard but now can't do screen sharing via my wireless network to my iMac (still running 10.5.8). It does connect but al I have is a black screen. I've tried to do screen sharing from a Mac mini (also 10.5.8) and it does fine. Any problems specific to Snow Leopard that can be fixed??

You could try putting your screen sharing app in your Dock. That's about all I can think of. I assume you can connect to the other machine over the network without screen sharing.
It's possible that iChat is the issue. In ~/Library/Preferences, hunt for all the "com.apple.ichat.......plist files, and put them on the Desktop. Restart iChat. A very small amount of effort to re-establish. Try SS again.
Thanks for that suggestion. I don't use iChat but I did as you suggested but it didn't resolve the issue. Still have a blank screen. If I move my mouse around on the blank screen the mouse on the shared iMac screen moves occasionally. I als ojust now installed an update 10.6.1 of Snow Leopard and it makes no difference.
In my setup, I am facing pretty much all the issues I saw on the forum around screen sharing. So from a Snow Leopard iMAC:
1. I can't even get the black remote screen when trying to get access to another iMAC 10.6.1 system. In most of the case the connecting window stays on for about 1 min and than closes; the screen sharing application shows nothing connected. Once or twice I got a black remote screen and once I think it did work well. Tens of times it just did not connect. Console messages show errors with NetAuthAgent (even that file sharing and screen sharing are enabled on the remote Snow Leopard system and the file sharing was fine but connection is slower than with leopard).
2. I can connect to a Leopard system but takes almost a minute to connect. I can access Leopard regardless of the screen sharing options and I never get a black remote screen.
All systems are in a LAN. Before Snow Leopard upgrade the screen sharing connection was instant on all systems.
