Virus on iPhone 3GS

Is it possible to get a virus on an iPhone 3GS? I assume it is but am not sure. Secondly, if I suspect that I have a virus how do I get rid of it? My phone has started going real slow and sometimes freezing up on me. I've read all about the new software causing some problems for other people but this problem just started happening and I downloaded the update a little while back. Any suggestions?

The iPhone runs an optimized version of OS X, and there are no viri that currently affect or infect OS X, which has been available for nearly 10 years now, and a Windows virus cannot affect or infect OS X.

Nothing can be installed on the iPhone from a received email or from a website except for a photo, and I haven't read any reports about a virus being included with a jpeg file.

Standard troubleshooting steps in order are - power your iPhone off and on, an iPhone reset, which is done by pressing and holding the home button and the sleep/wake or on/off button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo and then release - ignoring the slide to turn off prompt when doing so, restoring your iPhone with iTunes from your iPhone's backup, and restoring your iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup.
