Remove duplicate but keep reference for album completion?

Hello all,

I've done a lot of digging and have yet to see the answer to getting rid of duplicates BUT keep the reference to the duplicate song in order to complete an album. I've seen umpteen posts on finding duplicates, deleting duplicates, whether some bit of software is safe to use to automate the process, etc. I think this question is different.

For instance, I have Album A and Album B. Both have song X on them (same title, artist, version, etc). Is there a way to delete song X on Album B, but create an alias or somehow reference the song in Album A, so that Album B is not missing a track and still shows song X?

I hope this makes sense, I don't know another way to explain it. I would like to save some space, but not at the cost of gaps in the albums the songs belong to.

Any pointers or helpful information appreciated.

Thanks,

Markie
