Hi

You have not explained how the image is composed.

*1. If it is an .eps or .pdf file* you will need to alter the color in a drawing program:

http://www.freeforum101.com/iworktipsntrick/viewtopic.php?t=71&mforum=iworktipsn trick

*2. If the border is a bitmap file* it falls into 2 categories:

*a. Black and White .tiff file* This can be colored by simply selecting it in Pages and dragging on a color swatch from the Color Selector.

*b. Colored .tiff/.jpeg/.png/.pict* This will need to be altered in a photoediting program:

You will need some skill to isolate the part of the image that you wish to change and depending on the skill, your results will vary. How you edit it is too long and varied by program to list here.

You can try cropping and blocking out various parts of the image by overlaying image boxes in Pages to have limited editing.

This is one of the templates in the Certificates section. Open it as a new document. Click on the fancy border to select it. It should get little x's in the corners. Arrange/Unlock. Cut.

Go to Preview. File/New From Clipboard. Save as a JPG.

Open the JPG in Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements). Enhance/Adjust Color/Color Variations. Choose to pump up/down red green and/or blue repeatedly until you are happy. Save as a JPG.

Drag the JPG file into the Pages document from wherever you saved it. Arrange/Send to Back. Position and resize it. Arrange/Lock

Note: I tried going straight into Photoshop Elements without the trip through Preview but I ended up with a low-res image. If you know how to retain the image quality without first going through Preview, then skip that step.

That is very true. At higher zoom you can see it has much less detail. I was trying to do it with tools that most people would have available. Using the Metrics Inspector to get the PDF out of the template thankfully avoids the PDF-to-JPG step. Photoshop can then save the file in a format that can be enlarged more with less loss of detail (though it will be a 15-25MB file versus the 700K original). It still won't be close to the original in detail but it may be sufficient for a non-poster-sized print.

I don't have any drawing applications. Do you have a suggestion for a consumer-level (and consumer priced) application that the OP can use?
