@mac.com?

Hello,
This is a silly question but I'm seriously clueless when it comes to technological stuff, so here goes:

Does everyone have a @mac.com account?
If not, how do you get one?

Right now the email account synched with my mac is my gmail account, but do I also have a @mac.com account? Or maybe when I set up the computer for the first time, I opted not to create this account?

Please and thank you!

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

No. .Mac, now called MobileMe, is a paid service to which you have to subscribe. For information about the service, see:

http://www.apple.com/mobileme/

Your email address would end in @me.com now rather than the older @mac.com.

If not, how do you get one?

You can sign up directly from the web page above, or you can buy a subscription kit from any authorized Apple retailer. Annual pricing and availability will vary depending on your country.

Regards.

if you had a .Mac acct before apple switched to MobileMe, those accts (@mac.com email addresses) continued & still work.

but if you subscribed after the switchover, then your address was @me.com, the @mac is no longer available. if you were to create a @me acct & try to send a msg to the @mac variant, this will result in a failed delivery, the address will not exist.

@mac.com?
