Effects Tab missing, disappeared, lost

I'm using FCP 7. Inexplicably the effects tab disappeared. I've read other posts that suggest hitting the command and 5 keys together. This has not restored the tab for me. I also tried opening new projects. This too did not work.

Any other ideas?

2x Intel Xeon 3 GHz Quad Core, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

You must have closed the tab by accident. Reopen it by selecting Window>Effects from the menu bar.

I kind of think there's something you could easily do in order
to fix your problem but since I can't see what you are doing then... [trash preferences|http://www.digitalrebellion.com/pref_man.htm] (and back them up if you wish). This should help.

Did Command-5 bring up the window? From there you can drag it back into the tab area. If it didn't -- nevermind.

This solution worked perfectly. I will have to reset my user preferences, but that's pretty easy to do. Thanks for your help.
