The maintenance request that you are reporting, 0088, indicates a combined RTC (real time clock) voltage and Date and Time error. It appears that your RTC battery may be dead. You will need to contact our Support group to arrange for a service call. To do this, go to www.epson.com/support, select your product, click on Contact Support and click on email your question.
Hope this helps,
Syd
Syd: That IS helpful, thanks. But about that "service call"... I contacted Epson a few months ago and requested a service call for an unrelated problem. Epson's official service provider, a company called DecisionOne, told me it would cost me at least $1000 to have a tech visit and just look at the machine. So, as to the hypothetical question, "How much does it cost to change a tiny battery?" the answer here might be, "About a grand." Thanks for your info.
Reinstall the drivers that came with your Epson printer. If you still see the "maintenane request" dialog, install the Epson drivers available on the SL disk in the Optional Installs package.
