Backlight timer isn't working..
i've set the backlight timer to 10 seconds but it won't turn off

Does the setting save once you change it? Have you tried a simple reset of the iPod to see if that would help? To do this, press and hold the Center and Menu buttons together until the Apple logo appears. Then re-attempt to change the backlight timer if necessary, and then test it out.
