Hi, i'm a newbie here and dropped my 32GBs in a pail of tap water.
It was for about 3 seconds and I quickly took it out n switched it off.
After a while i switched it on, it was working fine but had a bit of lag, so i switched it back off. After another short while, i switched on again, but now:
- screen is black, although under certain angles i can see the Time display
- phone can ring + vibrate, but when i answer i cant hear anything, but d caller can hear my voice
- tried to switch it off and on but still the same

Question:
- how do i do the rice trick?
- what else can i do?
- how do i find the Water indicator (that supposedly turns pink), i know its at the speaker n usb dock, but im not sure which one is it?

Thankss~

Sorry, but you're probably out of luck. You should have let it dry for days and not turn it after a "short while."

I believe one is at the long charge connector at the based and the other is in the headphone jack on top. But it seems unlikely they would not be red.

As was said above, turning it on after a short wait was an unfortunate mistake. But I wouldn't give up just yet, if the pail contained only water (no soap, etc.). I'd let it sit for a few days so it has a good chance to dry out completely and try it again.

If it is a goner and you are in the U.S., I believe Apple as a non-warranty replacement deal under which they will replace it for $199. But you should check with Apple about that.

    Hi!

There was a terrible rain storm today where I live and stupid me put my iPhone in the pocket of my rain coat when I was running out to my car on my lunch break. I drove off not knowing that my phone fell out until I reached in my pocket after I had driven a couple of blocks away. About five minutes later I came back to look for my phone and saw it submurged in a HUGE puddle outside. The first thing I did was call someone to make sure it still worked...it did and everything seemed fine...UNTIL... I got home and received a phone call from my mom. I couldn't hear a single word she said to me, but she could hear me completely fine...

long story short I tried everything and was really bummed because everything else worked fine on my phone (that i got about two weeks ago). I was about to give up until I came across a forum that had listed as one of the steps to fixing a water damaged phone as taking the sim card out. I took my sim card out and put it back in..and voila!! My phone works just like new

Hope this helps some of you!
