Connect macbook pro late 2008 to HDTV

I have a mini-display port to hdmi cable to connect a macbook pro to an HDTV.

I connected the macbook pro to the HDTV to watch streaming video and only get the macbook screen display. No video. Any ideas on troubleshooting this?

Hi Juan,

If you go into System Preferences > Display > Arrangement and change the primary display to be the HDTV does that change anything? You can also try to "mirror" the display, just for testing purposes. You probably don't want to mirror the display as the primary usage, as the maximum resolution of your HDTV is probably greater than that of your MBP's display.
