Headers and Footers

How do I get it so that the header only shows up on three of the four pages? Whenever I try and delete, it takes the header out of all four of the pages. My english prof says he doesn't want our name and the page number on the first page of the paper.
Thanks!

You need to check "First page is different" in the Layout inspector > Section. First page is different only applies per section. Unlike other word processors I've used, Pages doesn't automatically suppress the headers & footers on the first page of a section. If you entered data in the header or footer on the first page, that will be displayed & suppressed on the remainder. To suppress it on the first page, the information must be entered on the second or later page.

On Pages, I have a template letterhead header and footer. I am want to have it displayed only on the first page of the document. I can get the template to show on every other page, but not the first page, and I can get it to show on every other page (using inspector) but not on just the first page. Can you help me? Jennifer

Peter I have to go to work now so am unable to continue struggling with this 🙂. I have followed the directions to some degree, however I cannot select "move object to Section Master" - it won't let me. Also, I have had to paragraph down to put the jpeg containing my address details at the bottom of the page. Not sure that's right. However, we are getting there. Thank you. Jennifer

Use *Word Processing* mode, as stated in the instructions.

You choose which mode when you select from the Template user.

*Page Layout* mode uses individual pages and does not have continuous pages or master objects.

Why do you have your address as a jpeg? and why are you hitting the return key continuously to position it?

Try making your images floating objects or putting them in the footer.

Time to download the Pages09_UserGuide.pdf from under the Help menu and also watch the Apple tutorial videos there.
