Apogee Mini-Me Routing Issues

I have the Apogee Mini-Me audio interface with a ton of cables running everywhere (not to mention having to get behind the Apogee whenever changing inputs). I'm running Logic 8 on an iMac.

I'm short on _space and money_ and was wondering what the best "routing option" is without having to reach behind each time. I have 3 mics and 5 instrument inputs. I've been told that I can use my Mackie 1202 VLZ3 mixer as a router to send the main outs to the Apogee's 2 rear inputs ... In theory just panning the Mackie channel to the correct side to enter either of the Apogee's inputs.

Others say a patchbay is the answer, while others say if you spend less than 1K on a patchbay, it's a noisemaker.

I wanted to solicit some opinions as to what would be an acceptable routing solution for recording demos (one track at a time) ??

Thanks in advance to all -

That would seem your best option. You can leave everything hooked up and the main outs in to your Mini-Me.

I don't see the point, as you'd still have to use your Mackie or Mini-Me preamps so you gain nothing in terms of connection simplicity. Even if you later expand your system you don't need to worry about noisy patchbays IMO - I have some cheap 1/4" Neutriks and also expensive TT patchbays and other than the occasional crackle in either, they're fine. That's what DeoxIt is for.

I've been using logic 8 since the day it came out, but only this last 2 weeks have i started encountering a lot of crashes and the white noise blasts.

I'm running logic 8 (latest update) on a mac pro with snow leopard (latest update) with a pre sonus fire studio soundcard.

I had a suspicion that the white noise blast was happening since i put snow leopard on, as i had never ever had this before.

I find it very suspicious that in the last 2 weeks i have all of a sudden started to have a lot of problems with logic 8 like crashing and the white noise blasts.

I seriously won't be upgrading to logic 9 if what other people are saying is true.

I will try reinitalizing core audio and turning off journaling, and tell my external lacie drive not to go to sleep when not in use.
(I don't see how any of this would help though as i have never had to do any of this for the past 2 years).
