Colors changing

i have noticed lately that when i scroll through messages in my inbox the color changes. i only use bold blue for unread and regular blue for read messages. yet, somehow purple appears when i scroll up or down on previously blue messages. see screenshot -- i had clicked on the Amazon email so it became blue after that -- but two purple won't turn blue until i click on them -- even though i've previously read them. is this a mail thing or a Snow Leopard thing AND does anyone know why this is happening?

I am having the same issue. In smaller fonts, the text also gets blurry, and any photos that are included in the message seem to really freak out the system.

No problems in any other apps-just Mail.

In my case I am not using any add ons or odd system tweaks, all software updates are current, everything is pretty much defaulted. My machine is a 2 late 2008 13" unibody Macbook, 2.6 GHz with 4 GB RAM.

I have a somewhat similar issue that I'm fairly certain started with Snow Leopard.

My in-the-office setup is a Dell 19" external monitor, keyboard, and wireless mouse connected via DVI and USB.

If I read messages in Mac Mail and I scroll through the message body, any color elements (links, pictures, etc.) get gradually desaturated to the point that all color disappears. This only happens in Mail and only when I'm using the external monitor. If I just rock back and forth on the scroll wheel the portion of the message in the viewer eventually becomes grayscale. If I scroll down farther the color returns to the part above the top of the viewer pane, and if I click on another message and return to the same message the color returns, until I scroll.

It also seems like font smoothing isn't working as before with the external display. The text that I'm typing right now in Safari looks pretty bad compared to how I remember it from before.

Very strange.

I am experiencing the same problem.

I have an external monitor, Dell S2309W, that I use for my primary monitor at home. The problem doesn't start until I disconnect the monitor and use the screen on my MacBook Pro 4,1 to read my mail and RSS feeds.

What are the chances that this is addressed with 10.6.2?

Yes, the screen captures are exactly what I am seeing. Oddly, in the case of some of the graphics, if I scroll up and down, I will see the picture get worse and worse, but then suddenly "wrap", if you will, and it will be fine-until I scroll again. It's an oddly cyclic thing.

However, I do have to say, that I have actually not seen this issue come back on my machine since I installed the last, minor "Performance Update" that Apple pushed out that made no mention of graphics issues in the (typically vague) release notes:

http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/performanceupdate10sn owleopard.html

Certain RSS feeds that included photos or lots of graphics were always the worst offenders for me, but things seem to be pretty stable now.

Tried the performance update - but it is limited to certain hardware only - namely MacBook Air (Mid 2009), MacBook Pro (17-inch, Mid 2009), MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2009), MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2009), MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2.53GHz, Mid 2009), iMac (20-inch, Mid 2009), MacBook Pro (17-inch, Early 2009), MacBook (13-inch, Early 2009), MacBook (13-inch, Mid 2009), MacBook (13-inch, Aluminum, Late 2008), MacBook Air (Late 2008), MacBook Pro (15-inch, Late 2008), iMac (24-inch, Early 2009), iMac (20-inch, Early 2009), Mac mini (Early 2009).

Unfortunately it doesn't work on my c2007 MacBook Pro - I continue to suffer from purple emails.
