Iphone Not Charging - Exceeded hub port limit

When I have plugged my iphone into my computer's USB port (and tried this on 3 other machines) i get an error message that: "Power Surge on Hub Port - USB device has exceeded the power limits of its hub port". My phone will not charge through my computer, or a wall outlet. It has died, and cannot figure out what the issue is. Any ideas?

Dell, Windows XP, 64 bit

Take it to an Apple store. Sounds like an electrical short is causing it to draw too much power, and the computers (and wall charger) are protecting themselves by disabling the USB port power.
